It has taken me a while and did you know?

I was having a look round my blog to see what different things I can change and work on some of the feedback I had gotten.

I suddenly noticed that my followers were 324, now I know this isn’t right cause when I go to my notifications it is 227 (thank you.)

This time I was determined to figure this out on my own.

And I have done, did you know if you include your social media sites, wordpress includes those in your followers. Personally I think this is cheating slightly, since you could have one person follow you one facebook, twitter, wordpress and the others, thus artificially inflating the figure

I don’t think this is how it works. I do not have a Facebook account, but I do have a Twitter account. I have connected my Twitter account to my WordPress account. On Twitter, I have over 1,800 followers. But on my WP blog, it shows that I only have a total of 45 followers.

I think the discrepancy you see in your WP follower numbers, is due to the number of WP accounts that follow you, apart from non-wordpress people who follow you by email only. I, too, have a small difference between the number of WordPress people who are following me, versus the overall number. That is what I think it means. For example, my husband does not have a WordPress account, but he signed up to get email notifications of my posts, so he is an “extra” follower.
