Christmas dinner

My family tend to spend Christmas day apart, its almost always been the way since I was little, my mum was a nurse and she would do the early shift and then we would start Christmas when she got home at about 3pm, as we have grown up, and my sister went onto have her family and share Christmas with the inlaws, my other sister, who dislikes the cold, would try and go somewhere warm, and then my parents, when the split up would do different things.

But we have always have tried to have at least one day close where we all got together to celebrate Christmas. It happened to be today.

Let me first start off  by saying I love my family and I hate how stressed out doing this type of thing is. Nothing against my family, I would be stressed whoever it was, but I hate the fact I have a sense of accomplishment seeing my family, it should be a nice, fun thing and I do enjoy it once I am there and forget I am not at my own house.

This year my sister J was cooking, her kitchen is quite small so she was cooking in my other sister’s house.

Having now had my lunch and dinner for the next six months, I think the kitchens at Buckingham Palace would be too small

^^^^ This one was sweet potato and pasnips covered with marshmellow. All the rage in the States apparently

And this is only half the table, she out did herself this year

Darling, I think the parsnip is left out of most of our sweet potato casserole. They’re a Thanksgiving (our harvest festival, we stole from the Indians) dinner thing in the southern states. Our family has the Christmas as scheduled thing as well. Funny how things are the same every where.😉

  3. I hope you had a good time. Holidays can be very stressful, partly because we want everything to go well and everyone to be happy. We put undue stress on ourselves.

What was this vegetable and marshmallowy thing like? I’m not a huge fan of marshmallow, but that looks like the squishy kind, which I prefer. I think I am baffled by it, yet intrigued! 😀
