I’m a polite sort of a girl and when someone visits my blog, I like to take time out to go and have a look round their’s and say thank you. I find it very frustrating to not find an about page, I don’t like to go to the most recent post and derail a conversation with something that doesn’t have anything to do with the post. Trying to force a comment is just as hard.
The other thing I am finding is people not allowing comments on their about page. It makes me feel rude.
Also if they have taken the time out to visit me, it makes sense that I do the same
I know this is very much my problem, but I enjoy seeing who has come to visit and not being able to voice that is difficult.
What do you guys think? Or do you just do a follow for a follow?

I will only like something if I do indeed like it, and with comments, only if I have something to say. Follows I am starting to get more picky

It’s tricky. I frequently follow bloggers on the basis of one “like” or one comment. And I frequently unfollow bloggers if I don’t like one of their posts or if it becomes apparent that they’re pushing an ideology I don’t agree with. I don’t have much in my “About” section as I don’t really know who I am.

I have to admit I am starting to unfollow people who “shove” something down my throat. I did follow someone who had the attitude of my mental illness is worse than yours and rather than lose my temper, I just unfollowed, I went with its their blog they can write what they like, its my choice to read it

Also with your about page you have one. Its the people who don’t have one that is starting to frustrate me, although I must admit its only recently I finally got round to doing mine properly (with a lot of help)

That’s the thing. I’m in the process of developing as a person. So, an about me page isn’t my top priority right now.

that is a really good point, but I am not saying it needs to be a massive page. It would be nice to have an about page, you have one, it might not say much, but you have one. Then from there I can go and read your posts to get a better take on who you are, but just something to say alright

I do understand what you mean. An about page is like the first impression or initial introduction to someone new. I have found a couple of sites that haven’t had one and it is harder to get to know them but not a deal breaker. And I, too, do like the option of leaving a comment on their about page – whether it be to thank them for dropping by my blog or to let them know I enjoy theirs. You do have valid points here.

I don’t follow somebody immediately. I do check out their About page, just to get a feel. If they continue to comment on some of mine, and I like what they have to say, then I’ll follow. That’s just me though. 😃

I wish everyone had an About Me page too. I am new to blogging and so I tend to follow people who like, visit, follow me. Or if I find someone’s page I really like. In the future, when I get to many I may reduce to only the ones I find most inspiring.

I must admit I follow round about 900 people, and I try and read as many as possible, but the title and the first line has to attract my attention. There are a few people who I will read no matter what, but its very few. If I tried to read everything I think I would lose my mind.

I have a full time job and a 2 year old, so know way I could keep up with that many blogs. I am amazed! I do what I can and hope people are understanding of it.

I would like to think they are. The only reason I manage it is because I have insomnia other way there is no way. Someone else has already commented that they only really keep up with 50 odd, which is a good number, for them, but it depends on your life, if you can only keep up with 10 then stick with it and grow it when and if you can, there is no way anyone can say your blog is more important than your child or paying your bills and if they do, give them a virtual slap from me

Me too, after reading whatever post caught my eye from someone new, I look for the about page. It’s a good place to say thank you for visiting, following, etc. rather than in a random post conversation.

I’m unsure of my About page. If, or where, it exists. Since I changed themes, I have a mini bio but no clue how to access it. I follow if I find a page interesting. {isn’t that the point?}

Your about page is very easy to find, its not so much the follow to follow, its just saying thank you is easy on an about page then on a random page

People who stopped by and like my posts, I go read some of their material. If they have an “about” page I will read that too. Unless something they write about goes against my beliefs, I will follow them. The only downside of this is that if I don’t rad blogs for a couple of days, there are just too many to read…

If I can’t find an About page or can, but cannot comment, I will try to find a place to comment on an article.
I have an About page where comments are allowed and I have a “Guestbook” page where I am inviting reviews of my blog and the opportunity to leave a link for myself and others to use to reach guests.

I usually check out a few of their posts before I start following. Not necessarily fff. About page follows thereafter. It’s usually the funny bloggers that got me. And parenting stories. And food!
Indeed trying to force a comment is hard. Just like this one. :p (I’m of course kidding!) Those sites with pop ups, I refrain from following.

I’m also annoyed when I cannot comment on the About page. I thought I was the only one lol Every time that happens, I’m like, why don’t you want me to say anything here??? I feel the same about not having a like button on the About page. What’s the point?

I try to be gracious, I visit and walk around their pages and I comment with honesty. If I like some of what I read I follow. Connections both real and virtual are important we can learn something from everyone.

I agree making connections are important, which I why I like the about page, its like a welcome to my world sort of thing, its not a deal breaker for me cause I will go around their blog as well, but to me its important

An about page is essential. I have been following for follow and go visit when I can. It’s a bit tough, but I haven’t given it too much thought. It’s not a marriage and we can go our separate ways when we so wish.

Couldn’t agree with you anymore, Trina. The ‘About Me’ page is an absolute must for any blog. If a blog does not have one or it takes me more than 20 seconds to find it, then I’ll almost certainly leave, lock the door and throw away the key on my way out.

Many people put themselves in check by not being aware of their surroundings at all times. This does not just apply when one steps out for shopping. Everyone needs to be well aware of who is and who might be watching, and this applies to internet and phone use.
A major percentage of users think the government is the only people that can track anyone to their door. Nothing could be further from the truth, if my Gravatar doesn’t say it, my LinkedIn profile does: I am a retired Computer Professional. Computer and Internet Security Professional, and Computer Forensics Specialist.
Your phone is no different, too many women AND men are being tracked right at this moment and don’t realize it. Women need to be well aware of this if they have been in an abusive relationship, just as men need to be aware.
BUT, ex-significant others aren’t the only danger, if you have let anyone use your phone, you are at risk!!!!
IT IS A FEDERAL CRIME to install any program, software, or set of shortcut keystrokes which set in motion any means of tracking, recording, or global positioning of any person, UNLESS that person is a minor child under the age of 18 years of age, under your guardianship as recognized by State and Federal applicable laws and statutes.

An about page is good but I don’t follow based on that. If I read a reposted blog which has moved me in some way I will like the repost then visit the original post to leave my comments. If I read more then I will decide whether or not to follow the author, if someone follows me then I’m more likely to follow back after reading the one post on their blog. Hope this helps you in some small way.

I so appreciate your manners and etiquette! I am not so organized. In general, I try to be supportive and give people the benefit of the doubt. I don’t always check an about page because from my phone it is hard to find. It’s a shame because people have been so supportive of my about page and I really think I should return the favor. The only thing I really dislike is when people are not polite or respectful. Other than that- live and let live.💞💞💞
