My Poor Partner

Its my partners birthday tomorrow. The poor sod has to put up with so much but nothing compared to what I make him do every year on his birthday.

You see I started the elf on the shelf tradition, I regret it now, but at the time it seemed fun. He arrives on the 1st December with the Christmas decorations, which means that on the 30th November, we have to put them up after my son has gone to sleep.

Which just happens to be his birthday. I did think of changing it, but my son is now so excited about the damn elf coming and his magic putting up the tree, that I don’t have the heart, either way someone is going to be upset and well so far every year its my partner.

Lets take a minute to just think about the poor sod and how for how the last 4 years he has had to do this and for howΒ  he will probably have to do this for the next 3 at least.

We made it so that decorating the tree on the 1st brings the elves back. They see the lights of our tree and know it’s time to return. This will be our 5th year with them! (I secretly-not-secretly love them)

Our girls are grown, so no little ones here. My grandson loves his ‘Frank” elf every year. To tell the truth, I want one for myself! The mister would think it silly though. haha! πŸ™‚
