Ah bollocks

Last night we concluded that the washing machine had broken down. The drum was no longer spinning.

This morning, we (I say we I mean my partner) opened the back of it, to find out what was wrong, we were both hoping the fan belt had come loose, so it was going to be an easy fix. Nop, we think it might be the bearings, which means we would probably have to replace the engine, which is shit hard to find because the washing machine is so old.

The easiest thing is to try and source a whole new washing machine, which I hate doing if its fixable, there is so much landfill because people buy the newest thing and get rid of their old thing, However, I need a washing machine and I can’t source the engine anywhere, hopefully someone might be able to use my old for repairs.

While I am looking for a washing machine (I need one second hand) I still have washing to do, which means I have to hand wash it. Bloody hell that is back breaking work. I hurt lots.

  1. Our washer finally died on us this year. We bought it over 30 years ago at a yard sale..it was used and cost a bit over $20.00 which to us was a lot of money. I finally found a nice one that I can understand at a big box store……..hope you find one that you can afford very soon. That washing by hand is for the birds!

My washer, stove and fridge are all older than me… My parents had them before they decided to have me, and I am wondering if I’ll outlive them! They are ugly, but still working… I am amazed almost everyday.

I hope you’ll find a new, affordable one soon!

Washing clothes by hand is definitely hard work and no fun. When our girls were little, our washer quit, so I had to use a scrub board in the sink. Washing wasn’t so bad, but rinsing the soap out took forever! Hope you find a solution for yours soon.
