Today, I got a letter from the council, they have recalculated my housing benefit (again)
This time it has dropped to nothing. Which means my council tax has gone up.
We are not talking hundreds it is maybe an extra £60 a month for the council tax, but then I have lost £60 a month in Housing benefit. So all in all I need to find an extra £120 a month.
With the government still pushing zero hour contracts it makes budgeting almost impossible on a month to month basis and quite frankly I find it impossible to deal with, just as I get it sorted, they suddenly come along with a change, I will do some rejigging but I am guessing in a few weeks it will change again, as it has changed because my partner is now working more hours because of Christmas.
But it is this type of thing, especially before Christmas which drives families into debt, it is honestly not like I can pull out £120 from my backside, maybe as a one off, but to suddenly do it every month is hard.
I do recognise it is in response to my partner getting more money and if he gets that, then we are fine and I am whinging about nothing. However there is a chance that he won’t and then what would I do.
The whole thing just drives me nuts, however it has driven home, that I need to make sure I submit his payslips, otherwise that backpayment is never going to get paid back
I feel your pain
