Having our boys wake up at home every Christmas since they were born. Oh, and, our vacations to Ocracoke Island. We go every year, sometimes twice, and it’s all of ours happy place.
Every year, Mom cooks this traditional meat pie we call ”cipaille”. She only cooks it for Christmas, and has never skipped a year. When I was a kid, and Dad would work on Christmas Eve, she would bake two, one for us at home, and one for Dad’s team (he was a foreman)… It always tastes like childhood!
