Oh trust me, I have made many mistakes, but usually I can cover them up and no one will ever know. Like Julia Child said, “never apologize for how something turns out in the kitchen. it was meant to be that way:.

I’ve made many, many mistakes while cooking, but I don’t remember making a big enough mistake to be mentionned here. I never put the life of anybody in danger 😛

A visiting friend said she used to love beef stew when she was a child and her Nana used to put barley in hers. She knows I loved cooking and she asked me to recreate this for her. I said, “Right, when you get in tonight, I’ll have made one!” I loved stew and dumplings as a kid so I thought I’d add dumplings too. I poured out a handful of barley and dropped it into my stew, that didn’t look enough so – another. No, still not right so I threw in the last big handful and a bit. I put it all a large casserole, put my dumplings on top then put it in the oven, timed to be ready when Fi got home. I couldn’t wait to set it down on the table and tuck in. Well, we laughed and laughed. Underneath the lovely crispy dumplings was a big stodge of barley with lumps of stew and carrots stuck to it. I didn’t realise just how much the barley would swell. We just made a gravy and ate it anyway. Cas

The very first meal I ever prepared for my wife, when we were first dating, was Italian. Of course, I used oregano in the recipe. My wife is allergic to oregano, as it turned out. Oops. 😬

Guess she didn’t mind too much, I hope its not a severe allergy

It was pretty bad. No more oregano in dishes after that one. 😃

She didn’t realize I used oregano, but realized it pretty quickly after a few bites. 😃

That I’m not sure about. If she did know, I wish she’d have sent me the memo. 😃

I cooked a dish from the movie Chef in Love from a description in the lobby. Turns out Several key ingredients were left out. Not edible. Had to order pizza!

We have had times, where dinner has gone wrong and little money, so relied on cereal. Since then, I got two bits of meat out, and then in the evening get the next meal. That way if it goes wrong again, we have an option for another meal

We go for scrambled eggs if it goes too wrong.

I don’t cook a lot so don’t really know. Any time I did cook I had help. And I go off of a recipe, and just follow it to a t!
