Where in the World: Uruguay

Out of the South American countries Uruguay was the only one I forgot, lets see what I can find out about it

  1. Uruguay shares its boarders with Argentinia to the west and south west, Brazil to its north and north east, Rio de la Plata to the south and the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast
  2. Uruguay is Latin America’s safest country and Montevideo is ranked on the most LGBT friendly cities
  3. It hosts Carnaval, which lasts 40 days includes parades, costumes and outdoor theatre and includes candombe, a folkloric music started by African slaves
  4. Cows and Sheep outnumber the people
  5. Every child in public school recieves a laptop (UK government take note)
  6. 99% of people over 15 can read and write
  7. It is one of only two countries in Latin America that has legalised abortions
  8. Its beaches covers 500km
  9. The name Uruguay means river of painted birds
  10. Lets see the Candombe

Hope you learnt a little something new
