Where in the World: Belarus

I missed four countries out and all 4 have visited my blog, so I went with the first aphabetically, lets see what I can find out about Belarus

  1. Belarus is a landlocked country, it has Russia to the east, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west and Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest.
  2. If you love reading, you have to visit their library, known as The Diamond of Knowledge, it stands at 74 meters tall, 23 floors and a viewing deck
  3. It is the only country in Europe, where the death penalty still applies
  4. It has the largest and oldest forest in Europe, in fact 40% of the country is forest
  5. Both Belaruisian and Russian are considered the national language but only 10% of the population speak Belarusisian a lot of the population do speak trasianka a mixture of both
  6. Belarusians consume more potates per head than any other country, you want a potato dish, they have over 100 recipes (a few websites said 200)
  7. This small country boasts 5 Nobel Prize Winners
  8. The capital Minsk has ben destroyed 8 times in European history and rebuilt everytime
  9. Belarus loves its sport, and has produced at least 68 Olympic Champions
