Christmas Day

Monkey woke up at just before 8am, he then unwrapped all his presents from Santa, which he seemed very thrilled with, then we said he could open the ones under the tree, because it was so early. I think next time, I am going to make him wait till after lunch/dinner because he just had so much, somethings are still left unplayed with. I am sure, I made him wait last year, or this year he just had way more presents for some reason.

Either way at 11.30am I started with the big lunch, first off I cooked the prawns for the prawn cocktail and left them to cool, an hour later, I prepped everything for the starter. We don’t really have anything we could put them, because by this point, I think I had used every bowl, plate and pan going.

Next up was the duck, it turned out really well and the crispy skin was delicious

The gravy was nice as well, my only problem with it, is I never seem to get it as thick as we like

Peas with bacon, probably the easiest dish that I did the entire day

Stuffing was nice, but too crumbly, I think we had the same problem last year, so will probably change the stuffing to one I used a few years ago.

The cauliflower cheese, went down a storm with everyone

No idea, what I did to the veg, where it went so badly wrong, they were cooked, but not crispy, so I am going to keep experimenting, throughout the year to see if I can get them perfect. We are going to be eating a lot of roast veg over the next 12 months

Finally the full plate, without the gravy, everything was finished up, luckly the dog loved the roast veg, so it didn’t go to waste.

It was served half an hour later than planned, we then spent the evening watching, the various different Christmas shows that were on and having a giggle, Monkey got 3 lego sets, so we are building those up slowly. One is massive, so that is taking us the longest.

I hope you all have a good Christmas Day and if you don’t celebrate it, I hope you all had a great Saturday.
