I know nothing of this country, is it two or three islands maybe? Lets find out

- I think we have answered the question of how many islands there might be, there are 2 Sao Tome and the slightly smaller Principe, they are in the Gulf of Guinea off the northwest coast of Gabon
- On Praia Jalé, a beach, you can spend the night in huts without electricity and watch Giant Sea Turtles lay their eggs in the early morning
- The Pico Cão Grande is a landmark needle shape volcanic plug, which is over 1000ft tall, it was formed by magma going solid in the vent of what was an active volcano (no longer active)
- The islands were inhabited around 1469, when the Portuguese arrived
- Despite being named as one of the top ten countries to visit tourist vists are very low
- The most dangerous animal you will find in the jungle here is the Mosquito
- Sao Tome population comes largly from the slave trade
- It was one of the first countries in Africa to adopt a democratic system
- Despite it being the second smallest country in Africa it has a large and interesting biodiversity
- A style of musical dance is Tchioli, enjoy
Are you from Sao Tome and Principe? say Olá
If you enjoyed this you can find the rest of the series here
I had no idea these existed until now.

We need to go there on holiday, it sounds beautiful and we can island hop between the two, there are other islands as well, but these two are the only ones with people on them
