We made it

Its been a tough couple of weeks, we ran out of money a week last monday. Now when I say we ran out of money, we had food, gas and electric, bills mostly all paid. We just couldn’t have anything go wrong.

This was down to a few things that have happened over the last few months, PIP stopping January, was the first thing, tax credits stopping in March and starting up again but at the end of April and being a lower amount and the stopping of working tax credit in April, as we were no longer entitled to it, so all in all over the last 4 months, we have lost over £500 in benefits, then we, like everyone else had all our bills rise as well.

Added to this, we also had my 40th, Monkey’s birthday and the family do (which to be fair I dont think I paid for anything)

We always knew that May was going to be the tough month, it was decided that if we were going to have a really shitty month, may was probably the best month to do it, June, July, August, is summer holidays, March and April Birthdays and then September onwards we have birthdays and Christmas.

But also, by doing it, will hopefully bring us to some sort of kilter again. However, I did fail to think about the increase in electric, which hit us and we then had to scramble around for a fiver to get us through.

I am sure if I had asked someone would have lent me the money, I am in the fortunate position to be able to ask people and they would be able to lend me the money, but I was desperate not to get into that position.

But we have now got through to Thursday, which means we are going to have bits and peices of money now coming in from various benefits and my partners wages, its not over yet, but at least we do have a safety net of money in the bank for any emergencies, of course we are still trying to save any spare money to get us into a good position for the rest of the year, so we shall see how it goes.

It’s quite shocking what has happened to benefits (and wages) in the UK
