Where in the World: Algeria

I know nothing about this country, so I am excited to learn

  1. Algeria is boarded by Tunisia to the northwest, Libya to the east, Niger to the southeast, Mail, Mauritiania and Western Sahara to the southwest, Morocco to the west and the Mediterranean Sea to the noth
  2. Algeria is the largest country in Africa, but 91% of the population live on the Mediterranean coast, it could be that its because the Sahara desert coveres four fifths of the country
  3. The Djamaa El Djazair mosque has the largest minaret in the world
  4. Due to wide spread cheatin in school exams in 2016, 2 years later in 2018, the government took the drastic action of blocking the internet for 2 hours, so children could sit their exams
  5. In its national anthem, it mentions 2 countries, it is the only country in the world to do this, the other country is France, as the antional anthem is about how Algeria gained its independence for France
  6. Petrol is cheaper than water here (or was, I am not sure now)
  7. Algeria has no external debt, but one out of four people lives on less than a dollar a day
  8. Algerian dates are famous throughout the world, the traditioanl welcome is with dates and milk
  9. Its national animal is the Fennec Fox, its very cute
  10. Enjoy some traditional music, called Rai
