They carry them in France but it doesn’t seem to increase gun deaths or gun aggression

I know in some countries they do and you dont hear of a lot of gun deaths

That’s largely because there are very strict controls over who, other than police, can acquire guns.

I think they should carry them all the time. They need to be prepared for whatever happens, including confrontations with armed criminals. A cop without a gun in a confrontation with a thug who has a gun is not going to end well for the cop.

In the UK, we dont have guns as such, but we do have knives and at the moment, we have people with knives against police with a trunchen, they might have pepper spray

Well, funny you should ask… We have a few things to take care of in terms of gun safety, background checks, and number of bullets per second limits before we can think about limits for police firearms.
