Australia has always been one of those country’s I want to move to, but everytime I have gone to look into it the reality has shattered my illuision so I go back to my fantasy, its much better (and cheaper)

- Here I normally do what boarders the country, but well its a big arse island in the middle of an ocean, but when you talk abou Australia, it is the mainland, it also includes Tasmania and roughly 8222 other smaller islands
- Aboriginal culture is the oldest culture on earth, people have lived her for 65,000 years
- James Cook wasn’t the first person to “discover” Australia, it might have been the Chinese, to be fair though, he wasn’t even the first European to go to Australia that was a Dutch explorer called Willem Janszoon in 1606, James Cook wasn’t even the first English person to get there, that was William Dampier in 1688.
- Kangroo means Horse in the Begangi language
- While Australia does have the longest golf course in the world, it also has a the only golf course in the world with reciprocal rights with St Andrew’s golf course in Scotland, it is also one of the strangest golf course, Coober Pedy, its an opal mine town, where houses and churches are underground
- Australia is home to 21 of the 25 most venomous snakes
- The first police force in Australia was made up of the most well behaved convicts
- While Australia was a penal colony for the British, Australia had Norfolk Island as their penal colony, it was used to transport criminals who were already serving their sentence in Australia. It was so bad that people who were sentenced to death on the mainland thanked God they were not going there
- Australia has the largest population of wild camels, they export their camels to the middle east
- Enjoy some music and dance from the Aboriginal people
If you come from Austalia say hello or Kaya

Salaries are much higher than UK but they need to be to cover higher costs though housing is generally less. But, of course, to move there you need skills that they want. I love holidaying there and am keen to go back but really want to wait until hubby has totally retired.

I know my partner has the skills they want (or did last time I checked it out) but we wouldnt go, because of family, but certainly going there for a holiday would be nice, a proper 3-4 week trip though

everything is trying to kill you there

I’ve survived 40+ years in Aussie and have not seen a venomous snake in the wild, nor been attacked by anything with intent to kill me. One does, however, need to be extremely wary of the Drop Bear. Ferocious devils π.

I havent heard of that in years, I think they did a film about it, a really really bad film.
But since you are denying it, then maybe there is truth in the theory Australia is made up and anyone who says they are Australian are actors. π
P.S I cant remember where you land when you are meant to be going to Australia, I will have to look the barmy but very funny theory up again
