- In 1977, Argentina sent a pregnant woman, Silvia Morella de Palma to Antarctica to stake a claim, she was 7 months pregant and her son Emilio Marcos Palma was born in Antarctica and is the first person to have been born there
- The first use of fingerprinting was used here,

Most welcome, I have to admit I didn’t either, although I did know he came from Argentina

Nice description of Argentina, Trina. I hadn’t heard of the Pato game, thanks for the heads up. One fact I’d add is that Argentina has cowboys called gauchos and lots of beef cattle. The best steak of my life was grass fed pasture raised beef in southern Argentina.

Thank you, I did do a quick scan of your blog as well, as I am sure you did a peice on the women presidents, but I couldn’t spot anything.
I did also find out about gauchos, but it seemed a pretty well known fact, so I got to be honest I just thought it was me who didn’t know about it.
Another fact for you, I did find out that the consumption of beef has dramatically reduced over the last two years, they are not sure whether that is due to covid or not

Here is the women president article https://fakeflamenco.com/2019/03/12/could-a-woman-be-president/
I think the drop in beef consumption is due to the unreachable expense of beef in a difficult economy and a growing vegetarian movement.

These were interesting facts. I visited Argentina briefly, a few days in Buenos Aires on my way to and from the Antarctica ( https://aseenaviccajee.wordpress.com/2022/08/06/expedition-to-the-antarctica-not-a-cruise/ ), but I do realise there is much more of the Argentina to explore. I hope to return one day.
