Where in the World: Finland

I know a little bit about this country, but I am looking forward to finding some interesting and fun facts about it.

1. Finland boarders Sweden to the northwest, Norway to the north and Russia to the east. It has the Gulf of Bothnia to the west and the Gulf of Finland to the south
2. When you think of Finland, you probably just imagine the country tucked up there in the north, but Finland comprises of 76,000 islands as well
3. Feeling strong? You can join in the Wife Carrying World Championship, where men carrying their female teammate through the obstacle course. Now the simple solution would be find someone very light, but the prize, is as many litres of beer as kilos as the woman.
4. The population of Finland is about 5.5 million, so it might surprise you to know there is over 2 million saunas in the country
5. Finland is home to the midnight sun, the sun never sets here
6. Lapland is home to the only indigenous people in scandanavia, The Sámi people speak an endangered language
7. Finland is the happiest country in the world
8. Fancy ringing in the new year twice? You can here, well you will have to involve Sweden, there is an hour’s difference between the two
9. Have you ever thought the Finish language seems slightly familiar? Tolkien based the elf language on it
