We are going to have to do something

I got a phonecall on Wednesday from the school, saying was I aware that they did a registration at 10.20 on zoom or similar.

Thursday came and I dutifully logged onto the account and got Monkey ready to say hello to all his friends.

I honestly thought he was going to cry he was so happy to see everyone.

It made me realise that despite my best efforts he is really missing his friends and I am not a good substitute for it.

I am not sure what the answer is, as the only solution is to open the schools back up and people don’t want that, the government are talking about keeping kids at home till Easter and I am not sure Monkey or myself are going to be able to keep this up, till April, especially with everything still shut. Suicides are starting to creep up here in the UK mainly amongst men and this is only going to get worse while we shut ourselves away.

But then you send the kids back our Covid rates start going up again and while there is very little risk to my family what about others?

I get there is no simple answer, especially for someone who can sort it out on the internet but not have any say in it. I just wish the government would come out with a plan

I’m sorry things are so hard for you and monkey, homeschooling isn’t ideal, its not good for kids to not see their friends, but what can you do? Until covid numbers go down this is the way it’ll be unfortunately! Xxx

We are hoping for the best here in the USA with a new President that has common sense. We have a vaccine and I am in the group eligible to receive it, but distribution is such a disaster that only 1% of the population has received the shot. Just my luck to die of COVID while waiting in line. Is the UK doing any better with shots?
